"Gilashin Ge" yawanci yana nufin lu'ulu'u da aka yi daga sinadarin germanium (Ge), wanda shine kayan semiconductor. Ana amfani da Germanium sau da yawa a fannin infrared optics da photonics saboda keɓantattun halayensa.

Ana iya noman lu'ulu'u na Germanium ta amfani da hanyoyi daban-daban, kamar hanyar Czochralski (CZ) ko hanyar Float Zone (FZ). Waɗannan hanyoyin sun haɗa da narkewa da ƙarfafa germanium ta hanyar da aka tsara don samar da lu'ulu'u guda ɗaya tare da takamaiman halaye.
Yana da mahimmanci a lura cewa duk da cewa germanium yana da halaye na musamman ga na'urorin hangen nesa na infrared, amfaninsa yana da iyaka ta hanyar abubuwa kamar farashi, samuwa, da kuma ƙarancin kewayon watsawa idan aka kwatanta da wasu kayan infrared kamar zinc selenide (ZnSe) ko zinc sulfide (ZnS).
